Star party (stär pär'tI) n. [AS. steorra + OF. partie] A congenial gathering of astronomers, photographers, scientists, and other night owls; convened in a Dark Park under Clear Skies for the purpose of Looking Up. See also MASP.

Mid Atlantic Star Party n. A private gathering of self-governing people held annually in central North Carolina on private property. A celebration of the joy of examining the heavens and a demonstration of self-government. An event otherwise known as MASP.
